The check-in that catches your GLP-1 client's bad week before it costs you
October 5, 2026
GLP-1 clients do not quit loudly. They have two rough weeks, say nothing, and cancel. The bad week was visible a week before it cost you the client; you just had no instrument pointed at it.
A short weekly check-in is that instrument. Five questions, two minutes for the client, and every answer has a pre-agreed consequence so the response is automatic rather than improvised.
The five questions
Energy this week, one to ten. Below four: next sessions switch to the scaled version automatically, no negotiation, no guilt.
Dose change this week? If yes, sessions that week are pre-emptively scaled, and the client hears that this is the plan adjusting to their week, exactly as designed.
Protein: did most meals include a real serving? Two or more days of drifting protein and the fix is food, not training: back to per-meal anchors before anything else moves.
Any nausea or GI trouble? Floor core work swaps for standing exercises, warm-ups lengthen, and getting up from the floor slows down. Anything severe or persistent is a call to their prescriber, not a programming problem.
Sessions completed versus planned? This one is for you, not them. Two missed sessions in a week is the earliest churn signal there is, and it earns a personal message the same day, not a program tweak.
Why the consequences must be pre-agreed
A check-in whose answers trigger debates is homework both sides abandon. A check-in whose answers trigger automatic, already-explained adjustments is infrastructure.
Tell the client in week one what each answer does. Then a low energy score does not feel like admitting failure; it feels like pulling a lever they were told to pull.
The coaching economics
Across a roster, this is the difference between reviewing and reconstructing. Twenty clients times two minutes of structured signal is a twenty-minute Monday triage, sorted by who actually needs you. Twenty clients of unstructured how's it going is an evening.
And the client you message on the day they wobble is the client who is still paying you at month six. Retention is mostly timing, and timing is mostly instrumentation.
